Carbohydrates break down into simple sugars called glucose. As glucose is burned as energy, toxic by-products are gassed off in a process called GLYCATION.  Glycated End Products are much like carbon monoxide as it is given off when gasoline is burnt as energy in a car’s engine. These glycated end products build up in your body just as carbon builds up in your car’s engine. Over time, the carbon accumulates on your valves and the engine starts to ping and stutter. The car loses power and it gets poor gas mileage. Glycated End Products sugar coat your stem cells, creating havoc and causing them to go into senescence. They can no longer renew your other cells. Senescence is a way of saying they are no longer active.

Senyolytic cells will no longer replace damaged cells, tissues or organs. As the Glycated End Products accumulate, they put stress on organs and bones. The body tries to repair the damage, but, the stem cells have been compromised due to the stress from the toxic build-up.  Decay and degeneration occur faster than regeneration which causes ageing.

Another negative by-product called LIPOFUSCIN is created by the burning of fat as energy. Lipofuscin can be likened to the sludge found in the bottom of the oil pan of an older car or the accumulation of grease that builds up in an oven that hasn’t been cleaned. It too damages the stem cells.

The golden brown coloring of fried food is caused by the reaction created when heat, fat, sugar and protein are all combined. The chemical reaction causes glycation and the build-up of the lipofuscin. The internal body temperature is a constant temperature of just under 100 degrees, which maintains a constant low-temperature slow-cooker effect.

The body naturally attempts to repair the damage, but there is no way it can keep up. All cells, including stem cells, degenerate, decay and die a slow death. This is ageing.

Let me explain with a simple analogy. Road crews clear snow off the roads in the winter and are also responsible to repair the roads when spring and summer come. Pavement begins to crack and heave. By spring, big potholes are found everywhere.

Road repair crews hired by the city are not large enough. They do their best to repair the worst holes first, but due to budget and time constraints, the fixes are not real repairs; they are simply patched jobs. Even though it is not completely repaired, the crew is pulled off to fix the next. It’s the only way they will ever keep up. When they do have the time to do some replacement work it’s usually too late because the Winter hits again. In the spring, there are holes in the holes. In the aged body, lack of sufficient numbers of viable stem cells creates this scenario as the cells go from one area of concern to another. 

Have you ever noticed the aching feeling in your knee doesn’t seem to bother so much when your back hurts? The pain never seems to go away, it just moves around. One day it may not seem that bad if you don’t have to go to work or shovel snow, but, pretty soon your health care provider is recommending a visit to the orthopedic clinic. This situation is created when there is a lack of stem cells.

 

According to recent research, when the kidneys begin to fail, chemicals are produced that affect stem cell function. The stem cells have a reduced ability to repair damaged organs of the body.  By reducing the unnecessary carbs from soda, candy, and cereals, you’ll increase your body’s repair function through enhanced stem cell function.

For many years, stem cells were only studied in the embryonic state. In my training as a doctor, 30+ years ago, I was taught embryonic stem cells differentiated into all cell lines. Stem cells would develop into all of the organs and tissues of the body.

Although stem cells are necessary for remodel and repair of damaged and ageing tissue, only a fraction move with the body into adulthood. Most of these are held in close proximity to areas near blood vessels for quick mobilization assuring a rapid response rate when an injury occurs.

Researchers have discovered the importance of how stem cells respond to exercise. They know the degeneration of muscle can be slowed down with exercise. Adult stem cells accumulate in skeletal muscle after exercise and release growth factors that regenerate the tissue. Further research indicates exercise helps the muscle in the immediate area and the growth factors combined with the mobilized stem cells have a whole-body effect.

Stem cells become deficient in muscle tissue as the body ages which explains why the elderly lose muscle quickly.  Exercise preserves muscle. Many ageing adults are at least partially disabled which leads to issues preventing them from engaging in exercise. The muscle itself degenerates.

New research using essential amino acids indicates a signal from the brain can be created which tells the body to build new muscle. 30 human studies have been completed. These studies were partially funded by the National Institutes of Health and the National Institutes of Aging. They indicate that this has a huge effect on our health. The studies give clues on preventing some forms of dementia and other degenerative brain disorders. Exercise is also understood to increase the number of circulating stem cells and improve circulation by increasing the number of new blood vessels in the brain.

Throughout this document, I have alluded to the possibility of slowing the ageing process. Dietary changes have been discussed. Sugar is very detrimental to your well-being. Before using dietary supplements designed to slow ageing are consumed, I believe the diet and exercise suggestions should be followed. Lifestyle changes can improve overall health and well-being as well as increase longevity.

Cessation of cigarette smoking has been shown to be one of the most important things one can change to enhance longevity. Mitochondria are the part of the cell that produces energy. They are highly affected by chemical stress factors. The toxic by-products of smoking causes chemical stress on the stem cells and their DNA.  While it’s been found in certain epidemical studies that some people do live to old age despite smoking, it certainly does not help most. The dangerous side effects are well known.
